What is Change Management Strategy?
Change Management Strategy can be said as the strategy used during the changing phase of the organization so that things go smoothly and there are minimum obstacles and breakdowns during the process. Its an effort taken to minimize the negative impact due to change on the organization.
Importance of Change Management Strategy
When an organization goes through change due to any reason such as Mergers & Acquisitions, Expansion, contraction, etc. things are expected to get rough. In case of mergers, offices are expected to be crowded, HR will start the layoff process, finance will be disturbed, and many other changes happen which can slow down regular work.
Ofcourse, with due time, things will adjust. But there is no surety about how much time it will take, or if things will Settle down or not. Along with other risks, due to the slow down during the change process, the regular work will be affected which can have a negative impact for the organization in the long run.

The first phase of the Change Management Strategy starts with the planning stage. The top management of every organization plans everything before commencing any operation.
Before even announcing anything, the management has to decide on the plan of action, procurement plans, procedural plans, make policies and then once everything is ready to launch, that’s when the plan is announced to the organization.
Translucency
Another element of Change Management Strategy is Transparency/ Translucency. Transparency basically means to be clear and direct to the employees and other stakeholders like customers, investors, etc.
Imagine you are being made to work on something regularly, you have no idea what you are working for, how would you feel? Will you be motivated? No. When the employee has no idea about the organizational goal, they can never be motivated. Because for employees to be motivated, their personal goals have to be aligned with the organizational goal.
Every stakeholder who has invested in the organization has the right to be updated about the changes to happen in the organization. They have the right to decide whether to be invested or pull out deciding on the upcoming changes, do they believe it’s gonna be a failure? Or is it gonna blast off? Depending on their prediction they can make their move.
Communication
When an organization is in a changing process, communication is an important part of their Change Management Strategy.
Communication refers to explaining the employee about the organizational goals and values, about how the change is going to benefit the organization, what changes may be coming, what its effects could be.
Communication not only refers to delivering messages, it also refers to listening to the employees’ concerns and suggestions. It should be clear to every stakeholder about what changes may happen, why are they happening and what their effects will be.

Participation
Next part is about what stakeholders do you need in your team for the decision making process for Change Management Strategy.
Indirectly, every stakeholder will be involved in the process, but there are some people with high authority who can help in the process of change. You have to decide on these people, what are your requirements?who can help you accomplish your goals? And then select the proper people.
Employees are also the people who are involved in the change process. This participation is necessary for the process to go smoothly. Every participant has a responsibility they have to carry out. Only when everyone completes their assigned word properly is when the operation can accomplish their goal.
Guidelines
Guidelines are an important part of the Change Management Strategy. Guideline is like a directional tool for the whole organization.
Guidelines provide details about what work has to be done by employees and teams. It helps to make sure everyone is aware of their roles and duties, and if there are any queries, employees can communicate and have them cleared up.
Guidelines help the organization to make sure that there aren’t openings left for mistakes by providing a road map to everyone involved in the Change process.
Training
Another element of Change Management Strategy is Training. When there is new technology or technique in the market that is to be implemented in your organization, the employees need to be trained to handle those changes.
By providing training to the employees, the organization makes sure that no one is left behind and everyone will have their skills updated according to the needs of the organization and not jeopardize anyone’s job.
Training not only helps the employees with their employment but also helps the organization to have the required skills in their employees without searching for it in the market.
Tracking and Evaluation
This is the last element of Change Management Strategy in the change process.
Once the change process has been implemented, the management has to make sure they manage and track the progress. Not only just tracking the progress but the management also has to make sure they evaluate the progress against proper KPIs.
